Lots of folks are familiar with the
GWS Pico
Tiger Moth!
This plane has been around since 2001, and tens of
thousands have been sold. I got one when they
first came out, and I loved it... except for two things:
- The
brushed IPS-drive geared power system lacked power
and would only last about 10 hours before needing
replacement. It also runs very hot.
-
Batteries were limited to NiCD & NiMH back then.
They were too heavy and lacked sufficient capacity
for reasonable flight duration.
Today things are
different! Now we have small and powerful
brushless CD-ROM motors and light-weight lithium polymer
(Lipoly) batteries with outstanding capacity for
long-duration flights. Additionally, simple
modifications to the airframe result in improved
performance and durability.
Now all of these
upgrades and improvements are offered in our MAE version
of this fabulous model airplane. Mated with our
25-turn "Slo-Fly" brushless CD-ROM outrunner, we call it
the
MAE Pico
Tiger Moth!
