Lots of folks are familiar with the
GWS Pico
Tiger Moth!
This plane has been around since 2001, and tens of
thousands have been sold. I got one when they
first came out, and I loved it... except for two things:
- The
brushed IPS-drive geared power system lacked power
and would only last about 10 hours before needing
replacement. It also runs very hot.
-
Batteries were limited to NiCD & NiMH back then.
They were too heavy and lacked sufficient capacity
for reasonable flight duration.
Today things are
different! Now we have small and powerful
brushless motors and light-weight lithium polymer
(Lipoly) batteries with outstanding capacity for
long-duration flights. Additionally, simple
modifications to the airframe result in improved
performance and durability.
Now all of these
upgrades and improvements are offered in our M-A-E
version of this fabulous model airplane. Mated
with our T2730-1300 brushless outrunner, we call it
the
M-A-E Pico
Tiger Moth!
